Center Hannah Jones hopes the impact of Wales’ historic signings will continue to be felt after the Six Nations’ opening win over Ireland.
Jones, 25, scored Dublin’s fifth and final goal after being one of many first 12 ladies to signal a full-time deal with Welsh Rugby Union.
Another 12 have signed retainer contracts.
“Now we have more time to train and put video games together,” Jones said.
“We train 5 days a week, have extra time with [coach] ian [Cunningham]additional time to get to know each other – I am very happy about the win.”
After hit back to beat Ireland 27-19, Wales are preparing to host Scotland in the second round at Cardiff Arms Park on Saturday.
“There was a fantastic crowd in Ireland so it will probably be nice to see the same thing at Cardiff Arms Park on Saturday and have the support of the group,” said Jones.
Saturday’s efficiency was very different from the 2021 Six Nations when Eire beat Wales 45-0.
There have been a number of adjustments to Welsh women’s rugby since then, along with the appointment of former Scarlets striker coach Cunningham as head coach and a move to more experienced players.
“They have done a lot of arduous work, usually they deserve this win [against Ireland]’ said Cunningham.
“I used to be happy with the way we finished the sport. We saved our construction and confirmed the investment in the forwards to finally secure the factors.
He added: “It’s psychologically important for these players to come away from home and beat a great side like Eire.
“This can boost our confidence ahead of the next game with our own home crowd and we want to prepare for the event.”
Wales’ fly-half Elinor Snowsill who has admitted it She almost left Wales following their winless 2021 Six Nations marketing campaign, said: “It feels incredible to win, there were a lot of feelings after the game but we’re really happy and relieved after what we’ve been through lately.”
Snowsill also revealed the Wales squad celebrating after the final whistle in the RDS area’s dressing room.
“We put on Tina Turner’s Proud Mary and we all danced in circles.
“As a squad, we’re actually close friends and that makes a difference in the industry.
“Whenever you’re under the pump, like we were in the first half, don’t panic because you already know everyone’s got each other’s backs and we’re just so happy to ultimately get the win.”
